Metstrip EF3461 – Hot Immersion
Strip paint, not your lungs. Powerful alternative to the toxic Methylene Chloride. This high-boiling-point alternative keeps the air safe while acting aggressively on polyester powder coats. Whether used hot or cold, it causes coatings to disintegrate into an easily manageable sludge, ensuring high-performance stripping without the health hazards.
Liquid product for use in tank immersion process.
Safer alternative to methylene chloride
Causes polyester paint to disintegrate into fine particles rather than large paint flakes.
Low vapour pressure so less evaporation losses to atmosphere.
Low evaporation loss so usually no need for forced extraction.
Suitable for use on Aluminium, Steel and Zinc
Metstrip EF3461 has been developed as a safer paint stripping alternative to Methylene Chloride. While Methylene Chloride is an extremely effective paint stripping solvent, it has the disadvantage of a low Workplace Exposure Limit (WEL) of 100 ppm (long term) or 300 ppm (short term) and a low boiling point of 40°C, making it easy to reach these concentrations. Metstrip EF3461 has a much higher boiling point (206°C), so evaporation is much slower, even when used warm at 50°C. Metstrip EF3461 is most effective at removing polyester paints from steel and aluminium. For optimum performance, it is best used warm at 50°C, where it typically removes polyester paint in less than 10 minutes (depending on coating thickness and agitation). It can also be used at ambient temperatures, though stripping times will increase. Metstrip EF3461 is an alkali-activated solvent blend. Although it contains alkali, the attack on aluminium substrates is minimal due to the water-free nature of the solution.
